A Call To Prayer Against Hunger In Gaza
August 9, 2025World President’s Report To The World Methodist Council Steering Committee
August 2025
Warm Pentecost greetings in the Name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ!
The World Fellowship of Methodist and Uniting Church Men also known as WesleyMen is a global connecting point of men’s ministry for Wesleyan, Methodist, and Uniting denominations. Our mission is to lead men in Christian Fellowship with a foundation rooted in the actions and words of Jesus Christ. And our three major priorities for the new quinquennium 2025-2029 are summed up into three impactful words– CONNECT, CULTIVATE, COLLABORATE.
CONNECT
One of the main priorities of WesleyMen is to deepen its relationships and connections locally, regionally and globally. The WesleyMen Board meets via Zoom every first Wednesday of the month. We are also continually recruiting committed, visionary and strong WesleyMen leaders who serve as Officers and Regional Leaders (connecting WesleyMen to their respective region and connecting back the men’s ministry of their region to the WesleyMen Board). Here are the current WesleyMen Board, Officers & Regional Leaders who are serving for the quinquennium 2025-2029:
Rev. Edgar De Jesus, World President
Mr. Andy Morris, Treasurer
Rev. Dr. William Allotey-Pappoe, WesleyMen Africa, and WesleyMen Secretary
Rev. Sikawu Makubalo, WesleyMen Africa
Mr. Edward Kwame Ofori, WesleyMen Africa
Mr. Barnabas Emmanuel, WesleyMen Asia
Rev. Denny Nainggolan, WesleyMen Asia
Mr. Anthony Seale, WesleyMeN Caribbean
Mr. David Friswell, WesleyMen Europe
Rev. Fotu Yavala Salusalu, WesleyMen Pacific
Bishop César Llanco Zavaleta, WesleyMen South America
Rev. Steve Hickle, Adviser & Past World President
Rev. Edgar will attend and represent the WesleyMen to the upcoming World MethodistCouncil Steering Committee Meeting on August 10th-15th in Accra, Ghana. Rev. Edgar will hope to strengthen the connections and relationships with the WMC Steering Committee and WesleyMen leaders in the African region while attending the global meeting in Ghana. Rev. Edgar has also been selected to attend the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics, Management (GEM) for an Economy of Life jointly sponsored by the World Council of Church and National Council of Churches Korea on August 17-30, 2025 in Seoul, Korea.
CULTIVATE
WesleyMen is actively engaged and representing both the World Methodist Council and the movement to the Prayer & Action Against Hunger Coalition (PAAHC). The PAAHC is a coalition of Christian organizations, including church-based organizations, denominations, Christian NGOs, and parachurch ministries. Its primary functions are to ground and coordinate responses to the global hunger crisis in prayer, raise awareness about the issue, and mobilize the global church to take faith-driven action. The initiative aims to help those who are engaged in action to be grounded in prayer, and for those who are dedicated to prayer to act. The initiative produces resources and organizes events to support these goals with efforts focused on mobilizing congregations around World Food Day.
In commemoration of this year’s World Hunger Day, the Prayer & Action Against Hunger Coalition (PAAHC) is offering a collective statement for sharing to your churches, regional bodies, denominations and the World Methodist family.

Furthermore, the WesleyMen Board is recommending to the WMC Steering Committee to prayerfully consider “Ending Global Hunger” as the theme of the World Methodist Council Meeting in 2026.
WesleyMen successfully initiated the “On The Move” Lenten and Easter Devotionals 2025 https://wesleymen.org/lenten-easter-devotionals-2025/. Inspired by the theme of the 2024 World Methodist Conference held in Gothenburg, Sweden, the weekly online devotionals were written by leaders of WesleyMen and the World Methodist Council and include Scriptures based on this year’s Gospel lectionary, moving stories, calls to action, and prayers. The devotionals were shared to the World Methodist Council family via email, websites, and Facebook pages.
During this Pentecost season, WesleyMen launched a new project dubbed: “The Spirit is Moving: Our Pentecost Stories”. We invite Methodist men and women from around the world to send 2-3-minute video clips of their Pentecost Stories. You may share a story of your personal conversion experience or story of how the Holy Spirit is at work in your life, your ministry and your community today. The stories will be shared at WesleyMen website,Facebook and other social media platforms between now until November 23rd Christ the King Sunday. Please send a clear video recording to Wisdom Gbanyi via mail: gbanyiwisdom14@gmail.com.
COLLABORATE
WesleyMen is an affiliate organization of the World Methodist Council, Therefore, we will work closely with the World Methodist Council and its Regional Bodies to deepen our connections and relationships as well as mutually collaborate with each other.
On June 2025, WesleyMen affirmed its partnership and collaboration with Africa Methodist Council. Rev. Dr. William, Rev. Sikawu & Mr. Edward are the official Africa representatives to the WesleyMen Board. WesleyMen will also participate on the International Men’s Day— a global awareness day for many issues that men face, including abuse, homelessness, suicide, and violence, celebrated annually on November 19th. WesleyMen will initiate a Roundtable Forum w/ WesleyMen Leaders in Africa.
Aside from Africa, WesleyMen is also planning to host Roundtable Virtual Forums in other geographical regions of the world in collaboration with the WMC Regional Bodies. The main goals of Roundtable Virtual Forums are: (1) introduce the mission and core values of WesleyMen; (2) serve as a platform for listening & conversation, mutual collaboration & call to action; (3) foster unity and energize the WesleyMen and the worldwide Methodist community. Lord willing, we are prayerfully envisioning for an in-person WesleyMen Gathering during the 2026 World Methodist Council Meeting.
In closing, God is on the move through the WesleyMen! We are grateful to Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett, Rev. Dr. Léo Neto, the WMC Steering Committee, and the entire WesleyMen Board including Past World President Rev. Steve Hickle for their constant prayers, commitment, mutuality and solidarity. May the Pentecost Spirit be with the WesleyMen and the World Methodist family!
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
