A Call to Prayer & Action
We, the World Fellowship of Methodist and Uniting Men, commonly known as WesleyMen, an affiliate of the World Methodist Council representing 80 million members in 138 countries, call upon Methodists to join us in praying for the people of Western North Carolina and across the Southeastern United States who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Many communities are still experiencing power outages, communication breakdowns, and shortages of water and food, which are ravaging their homes, businesses, and infrastructures.
We stand with the communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and recognize the vital role of global faith communities such as the World Methodist Council and the United Methodist Church in sharing God’s love and compassion.
We also call the people called Methodists to put our “faith into action” by supporting the ongoing disaster relief efforts of The United Methodist Church through the Western North Carolina Conference and North Carolina Conference.
Here are a few ways you can help support Hurricane Helene disaster relief efforts:
Emergency Response
The North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has detailed descriptions of ways to respond on its website. These include building cleaning kits (often called flood buckets), information on early response teams’ training and equipment, and ways to give generously to response efforts.
Grace & Peace,
Rev. Edgar De Jesus
